Calculations for bag sizes

If you do not know what bag sizes you need to line your litter bins of various shapes, this is how to go about it. Calculating the necessary bag size is totally different for both circular and rectangular bins as a smaller sized bag shall suffice in the first case because the bag itself is of circular shape.

Determining the correct size for a circular litter bin

To determine the circumference of the litter bin, multiply the diameter by 3.14 then divide by 2 and there you have the width of the bag. (It is worth adding 2 to 3 cm to have a looser fitting.)

Add the half of the diameter to the height of the litter bin and another 12 cm to fold back. This is the length of the bag you are looking for.

Determining the correct size for a rectangular litter bin

Use the formulae below to determine the correct size (the example shows the calculation of the size used to line a bin of 35x32x54 cm).

Width of the bag: LENGTH + WIDTH + 5 cm -> (35+32+5=72)

Length of the bag: DEPTH + 1/2 x the shortest side + 12 cm -> (54+(1/2 × 32)+12=82)

The sizes of the ideal bag is 72cm × 82cm × thickness or in gusseted design: 40 + 2 × 16 × 82 × thickness

Plain and gusseted dimensions

Every flat-packed bag has 3 dimensions. First: width, which is measured at its lip. Length is to be measured from top to bottom of the bag. And thickness is the third dimension expressed in micrometer. To determine the proper thickness or to find out the thickness produced by us, you shall find more information here.

A gusseted bag facilitates the storage of products held in it on the shelf. For this reason, it is perfect for lining a bin as it takes the shape of a rectangular bin. Width can be measured after the lip of a gusseted bag is spread. Length is from its lip to its bottom. Its depth is the spread length of the gusset and the last dimension is its thickness expressed in micrometer.

Find the bag with the thickness most suitable for you

25 um – Thin bags for dust protection, for packaging selected waste, small components, stationery.

30 um – Bags of normal thickness for vapour protection, for storing clothing or for packaging of the food industry.

50 um – Bags in commercial use for protecting objects in transit or for wrapping components, for collecting green waste.

75 um – Bags of industrial thickness for packaging objects that need packaging of enhanced strength.

100 um – Heavy duty bags for packaging automotive components, for storing construction waste, shrink caps.

150 um – Extra heavy duty bags, shrink caps.

We can manufacture bags up to a thickness of 200 µm in accordance with customer needs.
